Registration - 2009/10 Season

Club registration takes place exclusively online. There is no in-person or mail-in registration. We use Zone4 as the site that we have chosen to host our registration. Most communication will be via e-mail or through our web site so, once you have registered and provided us with an e-mail address that you would like to use for all club communication, please keep us updated with any e-mail address changes by e-mail to hollyburn_jackrabbits@hotmail.com.

Registration Process

Follow the steps below in order to register with the club. Please be sure to read all the details on this page before registering.

  1. New Members
If you have never registered before, e-mail us your mailing address, telephone number and the e-mail address that you prefer to use for all club communications.

  2. Club and Program Review
Familiarize yourself with the registration process and fees on this page, our programs, the club schedule for this season and the volunteer opportunities. Review these even if you are a returning member since changes often take place from season to season.

  3. Online Registration
Registration is available online only and only via the form that is accessed by the web site link that we send you. No phone-in, e-mail, mail or fax registrations will be accepted. In September we send out a registration notification e-mail to anyone that has been a club member in the previous two seasons and to new members that have sent us their contact information (see step 1 above). Read the details in that e-mail, select either the early or regular registration period (see Registration Dates below for details) and, during the appropriate registration period, click on the registration link in that e-mail and complete the online registration form. Please read all instructions carefully as there is a 15% processing charge on any refunds that we need to send out due to mistakes by the registrant (to cover the fees that the club is charged).

The family membership will again be available for the entire family, or you can select individual memberships for each adult or child (see below for prices). Remember, every Jackrabbit/bunny, each volunteer and at least one adult per family must register as a member.

You may pay by credit card or cheque. If you pay by cheque, your registration will not be accepted until your cheque has been received. Make it payable to "Hollyburn Jackrabbit Ski Club" and mail it to:

    Hollyburn Jackrabbit Ski Club
    P.O. Box 16101
    Lynn Valley Postal Outlet
    North Vancouver, BC   V7J 3S9

  4. Confirmations
You will receive an automatic confirmation from Zone4 to verify that we have received your registration. Our registrar will review every registration and you may be contacted if there are issues with it. A final club registration confirmation will be sent out by the club some time after the registration period has closed confirming that we have processed and accepted your registration.

  5. Pass Purchase
All program participants, bunny parents who ski with their children and club coaches are responsible for purchasing their own trail passes for, at the very least, the days of the program sessions. All pass and equipment rental purchases must be done directly through Cypress Mountain. The best options are:
    • Group Rate Season Pass
Due to the 2010 Winter Olympics that have led to a closure of Cypress Mountain for all of February and some of March, group passes are not available this season. The cheapest season pass option is the Cypress 2010 Commemorative Season Pass, which is selling out quickly. Contact Cypress Mountain for further details.
    • Seven-Session Pass
This trail pass is available to club members only and is purchased online. It is valid only on the days of your weekend program session. It has an equipment rental option as well. Purchase instructions are sent out with the final club confirmation of your registration. Note that there is no special weekday pass available and the best option for those that ski weekdays is a season pass.

Passes must be purchased and picked up before the first ski session. Cypress will be very busy on the first day and there will not be enough time to pick up passes.

  6. Ski Equipment
All program members, bunny parents who ski with their children and club coaches are responsible for purchasing or renting their own skis, boots and poles (classic technique equipment). Check our club schedule for the date of our annual ski swap at Sigge's or the date of our annual AGM at Deep Cove Outdoors , which will offer a club discount night on that evening.

If you prefer to rent, you can choose this as an option when purchasing nine-session trail passes. Please note:
    • Jackbunny and Jackrabbit level 1 - no ski poles are needed.
    • Track Attack and Racing Programs - skate ski equipment is also required.
Volunteers do the registration work. Your diligence and cooperation in completing the online forms will save them work and their valuable time.

Registration Dates

Note that registration is still being finalized. Exact dates will be posted once they are available.

Early Registration

Late September, 2009 at midnight

Early registration will be available to families of the following volunteers only:

  • Coaches (Teen, Racing Program and weekday-only coaches must contact the club first)
  • Session Coordinators (must contact the club first)
  • Club Secretary (must contact the club first)
  • Treasurer (must contact the club first)
  • Web Site Manager (must contact the club first)

Early registration also entitles you to a 50% discount on the program fees for the Skills Development Program (Bunnies, Jackrabbits and Track Attack). These fees are discounted during the early registration period only. If you register as a coach after the early registration period, you will not receive the discount.

Your registration will be cancelled with a 15% penalty if you register early and do not sign up for one of these positions.

Regular Registration

Early October, 2009

These sessions tend to fill very quickly once regular registration opens. Sunday sessions have filled in as little as an hour in previous seasons. Consider a Saturday session. Better yet, consider coaching so that you can register early.

Cypress limits us to 60 skiers per session. If we do not have enough coaches registering, then we may need to limit these numbers even further. See our volunteer page for further details on coaching.

2009/10 Registration Fees

Club fees are kept as low as possible but are required in order to pay for the operation of the club, insurance, Cross Country B.C. membership and coach training amongst other items. The club charges the following fees:

  • Membership Fee
This mandatory fee must be paid by each registering member, including program registrants, volunteers (including coaches and excluding those families who volunteer only) and bunny parents who ski with their children. Choose either the Family Membership option or the Individual Membership option. At least one adult per family must register as a club member. Memberships are non-transferable.

  • Raffle Fee
This fee must be paid by each family (excluding those volunteering only). It is recouped by selling a booklet of 15 raffle tickets. You can "sell" these to yourself if you do not wish to sell them to family, friends and neighbours, but all booklets must be returned sold. Note that we must hold a raffle each year in order to qualify for lottery funding.

  • Program Fee
Fees are charged for each of the programs that we offer. There is a 50% discount for coaches and session coordinators that register during the early registration period.

  • Trail Passes and Equipment Rental (Cypress)
These fees are set by and paid to Cypress Mountain directly. Cypress manages the cross country ski area and is completely independent from the Hollyburn Jackrabbit Ski Club. All coaches, bunny parents skiing with children and program participants must purchase trail passes from Cypress.

Please note the following:

  • In addition to anyone signing up for a club program, at least one adult per family must register as a member. For the Bunny program, this adult must be the one accompanying the child.
  • Due to the additional skiing that they will be doing, race program, Jackrabbit levels 3 and 4, Track Attack and Teens on Skis program registrants should purchase a season pass from Cypress. The seven-session pass will not suffice.
  • There will be a 15% charge for refunds required due to errors made by the registrant during online registration. This is to cover the fees charged to the club by Zone4 and the credit card companies.
